Support for Undocumented, AB540 & DACA Students at Chabot College

In light of recent concerns regarding potential federal immigration enforcement measures, we reaffirm our dedication to upholding the protections outlined in California's sanctuary jurisdiction laws, Senate Bill (SB) 54 (the California Values Act) and Assembly Bill (AB) 21. These laws safeguard individuals’ rights, foster a supportive campus environment, and prohibit the use of community college resources for federal immigration enforcement except as explicitly required by law. At Chabot-Las Positas Community College District, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Our district operates in compliance with existing state law which already prohibits California’s public colleges and universities from granting preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.   If you have any immediate concerns regarding the potential impact of this federal guidance, I encourage you to reach out to our college and district leadership.

Sincerely,
Chancellor Ronald P. Gerhard, CLPCCD
President Dyrell Foster, Las Positas College
President Jamal Cooks, Chabot College
