Dr. Luis Escobar has more than 18 years of experience in higher education in a wide range of positions including Classified Professional, Counseling faculty, Dean of Counseling and most recently as the Vice President of Student Services at Chabot College. His academic journey started as a community college first generation student. As a Latino male, raised in an immigrant family where he was the first to graduate from an institution of higher learning, his drive and commitment to advancing equitable student success outcomes stems from a deep personal connection to issues of educational equity.
Dr. Escobar earned his Associate Degree from Contra Costa College, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Science in Counseling, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Francisco State University.

I am a lifelong learner, believe in holistic well-being and enjoy collaborating to support student success! Prior to joining the student services administrator team, I was a full time counselor/instructor at Chabot for 17 years (Aug. 2005-June 2022). I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology with a dual emphasis in career counseling and marriage family therapy and presently pursuing my doctorate in Community Care and Counseling with a focus in Traumatology.
