Career Fair Employer Selection Criteria
The following is information on the selection criteria of employers for the career fair hosted by the Chabot College Career Center.
A couple months before each career fair, an email announcement of the career fair will be sent to employers registered with our online job board. The announcement will include the Career Fair Interset Form. Completing the form does not guarantee participation in our career fairs.
The Career Center can host up to 10 employers for in-person career fairs. With limited spots, only a certain number of employers who completed the interest form will be selected to participate. After completing the interest form, employers will be reviewed based on the information entered and will be notified of their selection status: Immediately Selected, Tier 1 Waitlist, Tier 2 Waitlist, Not Qualified or Impacted Employers Group. Details on selection statuses are below.
Once the career fair is full, all non-selected employers will be notified.
Other selection criteria factors and exceptions can be included by the Career Center when assessing each employer. For questions, please contact John Salangsang, Career Counselor/Coordinator with the Chabot College Career Center: jsalangsang@chabotcollege.edu.

Tier 2 Waitlist
Employer has met some of the criteria below and will be further reviewed before being

tier 1.
- Employer is hiring for part-time and/or full-time positions; part-time positions more

full-time. - Employer’s positions have qualifications that may not reflect the level of experience and skills of the general student population.

Impacted Employer Group
The employer is hiring for similar positions as a high number of other employers that have completed the career fair interest form (ex. child development related employers seeking students with ECE units). In this situation, there may only be one or two employers selected from each of these impacted employer groups. Selection will be based on the following criteria:
- Employers with paid internship positions are more desired for selection than those without.
- Employers with part-time/seasonal job positions are more desired for selection than those with only full-time job positions.
- Employers with a higher number of openings are more considered for selection than those with less openings.
- Employers that have not attended the recent career fairs hosted by the Career Center will be more considered for selection.
- Employers that are not participating in events hosted by other Chabot College departments/programs will be more considered for selection.
