Notes
Dentistry and physician assistant
- Select few programs for dentistry and physician assistant require calculus; take a BSTEM course as soon as you find out your program requires it.
- Not all medical schools have a calculus requirement, but if they do, they usually will accept both MTH 1 or MTH 15,
- A major in the sciences is not required to attend medical school as long as you have the required courses for admission.
- If you wish to pursue the Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) in Elementary Teacher Education, then take MTH 41, but remember that it does not meet the math requirement for UC.
- Statistics is part of the subject matter competency expected of multiple-subject credential holders in California to teach elementary school. Multiple-subject matter competency waiver programs often require Statistics. However, Statistics is not a required course for the AD-T.
Statistics is a good alternative to MTH 47 if you are also interested in elementary school teaching. Statistics is part of the subject matter competency expected of multiple-subject credential holders in California to teach elementary school. Multiple-subject matter competency waiver programs often require Statistics. However, Statistics is not a required course for the AD-T.
The following courses have been articulated with C-ID 110 Introduction to Statistics for an ADT (associate degree for transfer) to CSU that requires it. The vast majority of four-year programs with a statistics requirement can be met by any of these courses, which you should verify with ASSIST.
- MTH 43 - Introduction to Probability and Statistics
- PSY 5 - Introductory Statistics for the Behavioral and Social Sciences
- BUS 19 - Business Statistics
