Self-Assessment above First-level
- If you have coursework from another college or a passing score on the AP Calculus
AB/BC Exam or IB Mathematics HL Exam that can place you higher, please bring verification
to a counselor for higher placement and course credit. A passing score on the AP Statistics
Exam also qualifies for course credit at Chabot to satisfy math requirement, but it
does not contribute to advancement toward Calculus.
- You can use appropriate high school courses completed with C or better to satisfy
prerequisite, if you feel you are ready for the next course. You will need to show your high school transcript to a counselor
for a self-assessment override.
- HS Precalculus or Calculus satisfies the prerequisite to MTH 1 or MTH 15.
- HS Trigonometry satisfies the Trigonometry requirement for MTH 1. While you complete the College Algebra requirement for MTH 1 (e.g. by taking MTH 21), see the Math Coordinator about an override to skip MTH 22 into MTH 1.
- If you enrolled in Calculus in high school directly from Algebra 2 or IM 3 but did not pass the AP Calculus Exam, see the Math Coordinator.
If you believe your unique situation should place you higher, please email the Math Coordinator, Mr. Ho, at mho@chabotcollege.edu. Describe your situation and, optionally, a phone number and time to best reach you.
