Movement

Originally known as Movement API, MOVEMENT is the Asian American and Pacific Islander learning community at Chabot College. 

As a response to the anti-Asian hate and violence happening throughout the U.S. during the COVID pandemic, Chabot faculty, staff, and students collaborated to create MOVEMENT API. The name, “MOVEMENT” serves as a callback to not only the Asian American social justice movements in the 60s, but also a connecting component to our shared histories and experiences in the Asian and Pasifika diaspora. 

This program is designed for students interested in Asian American and Pacific Islander culture and experiences. MOVEMENT students receive individualized counseling and transfer planning support, leadership opportunities, and curriculum centered around Asian American and Pacific Islander history, literature, and culture.
