Laura Coronado has been a Microbiology Professor at Chabot College since 2007. She began her education at Las Positas and Chabot College. During her education, she worked as a nursing assistant specializing in surgical oncology and hospice. Laura earned a bachelor's degree in biology at the California State University of Sacramento, followed by a two-year biomedical sciences program at Drexel University. Laura earned a master’s degree in public health at Columbia University. Laura’s education at Columbia University focused on her passion for addressing health inequities. After graduate school, Laura worked with The Consortium for Worker Education training staff at Lincoln Hospital, located in the South Bronx. In 2001, Laura began working with the U.S. DHHS, Office for Civil Rights and recently retired in 2025. Laura volunteers with the UCSF Community Advisory Board to address cancer inequities. Laura has also taught biology, nutrition, and human sexuality at Laney College.
