Djenilin (DEN-ill-lynn) is an Ate, panganay, Pilipina educator born and raised in the East San Francisco Bay Area. The oldest of four children born to Philippine immigrants, she was the first in her family to go to college, starting first at Chabot College where she earned AAs in English and Liberal Arts/Social & Behavioral Sciences. She transferred to UC Berkeley and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare and later, a Master of Arts in Education, in Equity & Social Justice, at San Francisco State University. Djenilin is passionate about higher education through the lens of a student agency framework. She aims to facilitate opportunities for students to recognize and cultivate their leadership through collaborative, culturally-affirming and intercultural community-building.
