A Bay Area native, Carson Sprott was born in Berkeley and raised in Castro Valley and San Jose, California. Sprott dual-hatted by the Governor for two critical roles in the state of California. In one role, he is an Investigator-Attorney in the Office of the President, University of California, and the first disabled veteran to serve in this role. In his other role, Sprott is the Senior Public Defender for all Air Force Reserves military public defenders in the 9th Circuit, an area covering over 25 wings in the western U.S. and the Pacific. Sprott has twice been recalled to active duty since joining the reserves, both to support current operations in eastern Europe, and for Typhoon Mawar relief in Guam. A distinguished public servant, Sprott served as an active duty judge advocate officer in the U.S. Air Force from 2010 to 2020. He received his law degree in 2010 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated cum laude.
