Caren Barnezet Parrish

Dr. Caren Barnezet Parrish has taught French at Chabot College since 2008. She earned an M.A. in French as a Second Language from Université Grenoble III in France and a Ph.D. in French from UC Davis, with a designated emphasis in Second Language Acquisition. She currently serves as Chabot’s OER/ZTC Faculty Cohort Lead and World Languages Coordinator.
She has developed online courses for first and second-year French, all of which have undergone the CVC-OEI review process. She co-authored French OER 1 and French OER 2, as well as Avant-Première: Intermediate French Through Films and Avant-Première: Advanced French Through Films. A native speaker of French and a former English language learner, Dr. Parrish promotes authentic communication and a supportive learning environment. She lives in Hayward with her family, where they enjoy urban farming with a garden, chickens, and bees.
