Professor Javier Espinoza Barajas was born in Michoacán, México, and migrated to the U.S. at the age of sixteen.
Graduated from Mt. Eden High School in Hayward, CA, while being concurrently enrolled at Chabot College. Professor Espinoza holds a BA Degree in Social Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Education from UC Santa Cruz, and a MA Degree in Social Cultural Anthropology from CSU Los Angeles. Throughout his time at UCSC, Professor Espinoza studied abroad for one year at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in the Schools of Pedagogy and Cultural Gestations.
