Appointment Tutoring
Appointment Tutoring
Both one-time and weekly recurring appointments for a variety of classes can be scheduled at least one day in advance. Appointments are available starting the third week of classes through the last day of instruction. Appointments will take place online or in-person/on-campus. Students can schedule one appointment per week per course, and are encouraged to meet with a drop-in tutor if they need additional tutoring help.
Schedule your appointment by logging into Accudemia OR contact a staff member for assistance. Watch this video for directions on how to schedule an appointment using Accudemia:
Guidelines for Tutoring Appointments
By signing into Accudemia and scheduling a tutoring appointment, students acknowledge that they agree to the policies and terms listed below. Any questions regarding the policies and terms listed above may be directed to Learning Connection staff.
- Appointments may be scheduled up to six hours in advance.
- Appointments take place in-person or online and are scheduled for 50 minutes.
- You can schedule one appointment per week per class.
- If you have scheduled a recurring tutoring appointment, your tutor expects to meet with you every week. Please take note of the following:
- Recurring appointments are for students who have something to work on each week. If you don’t have a current assignment to work on, you can bring past tests, homework, or papers as well as your book OR cancel the appointment in advance.
- If you don’t need a recurring appointment, you can cancel it and schedule one-time appointments when you need them instead.
- Tutors will wait for 15 minutes, and then they will move to drop-in tutoring. If we do not hear from you, you will be marked "ABSENT" for this appointment.
- If you encounter technical difficulties, please call/text (510) 397-8047 so we can notify your tutor and help you troubleshoot.
- For online appointments, make sure that you have charged your device(s) and tested to ensure they are functioning properly, especially your audio, before your appointment starts.
- Appointments are for students who want more time than drop-in tutoring provides, so you are expected to attend your full session.
- If you are unable to attend a tutoring session, you can cancel your appointment in
the Accudemia system:
- Upon logging in, you will see a list of your upcoming appointments
- Find the appointment date and time that you need to cancel, then select the grey "X" to cancel the appointment.

- If canceling by EMAIL: send an email to learningconnection@chabotcollege.edu with the subject "Cancel an appointment."

- Appointments should be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. For emergency/short-notice cancellations, please contact the Learning Connection for assistance.
Students with online scheduled tutoring appointments should:
- Login on time for your appointment
- Have any necessary materials ready and saved as files on your device if needed (for example, the course syllabus, textbook, and class notes)
- Prepare your device(s):
- Make sure the device(s) and supporting technology you are using at your home or workstation are functioning properly and are reliable for more than one hour to ensure you can attend the full 50-minute appointment without issue:
- Your device is plugged or has sufficient battery power for ~2 hours
- The device is connected to a reliable internet source
- You have all accessories needed for your appointment including optional items such as a mouse, an external microphone, headphones, etc. as well as all class materials such as textbook, assignment prompt, notes, pen/pencil for taking notes, calculators, etc.
- Test your audio. Be sure you can hear audio and that your device receives and transmits sound.
- If necessary, check to see that your webcam is enabled and is functional (optional)
- Think about your environment, as much as you can:
- What will be behind you if you use video? Consider a well-lit area near a blank wall.
- Try to ensure that you’ll be in a quiet, distraction-free space so you and your tutor can hear each other easily and you can focus on your work
- Other considerations before you start:
- Go to the restroom
- Eat and/or drink water so you are fueled up and hydrated for your session!
