Middle College
The Middle College Program is for eligible high school juniors and seniors to take Chabot College courses on the Chabot College campus at no cost.
Students take all of their high school and college classes at Chabot College, earning credits toward high school graduation while building a college transcript. Students can earn free college credits, explore academic and career pathways, and get an early start on college.
Offered in partnership with the Eden Area Regional Occupational Program (ROP) and participating high school districts, the Middle College Program helps make college
more accessible and affordable.

What are the benefits of Middle College?
Middle College gives students the opportunity to:
- Earn free college credits while completing high school
- Learn in a small, inclusive community, at Chabot College
- Explore academic and career interests
- Prepare for the transition after high school
- Experience a more independent learning environment
How is it different from the dual enrollment programs (i.e. Early College)?
Middle College students take all of their high school and college classes at Chabot College.
High school courses are taught by Middle College instructors, while college courses
are taught by Chabot College instructors.
In comparison, dual enrollment students take college classes at a community college
or at their high school campus while continuing their regular high school course schedule.
What is the cost?
Middle College is a free high school program. All college course fees, books, supplies and materials are provided
by the Middle College program.
Who can attend Middle College?
Middle College is open to eligible 11th and 12th grade students from the four Eden Area ROP partner school districts:
- Castro Valley Unified School District
- Hayward Unified School District
- San Leandro Unified School District
- San Lorenzo Unified School District
