The Challenges of the Web
Ah, the World Wide Web.
What a tangled web you weave.
I can't find the best information 'cause it's "invisible"?
And now I have to worry whether the author's a "dog?!"
But that's the
challenge you must take as a good researcher. The images
listed below is what a good search engine such as Google
actually brings you when it searches the Web at large: Tabloids,
fliers, commercials, journals, research from reputable
institutions . . . and questionable institutions. You need to be able to
distinguish what is reputable research material and what is not.
When search engine results come to you as a list, it's not going
to be as obvious. Remember: Anybody can put
anything on the Web. There's really no quality
control, here, unless you go to a tool that searches only
selected sites such as the Subject Directories or
Public WWW
Sites Selected by Librarians.
